Sam Mallett, 3rd year Graphic Design student form The University of Wales Newport, just sent me mail talking about his poster project.
Last summer I did a short work placement in Zürich and had the opportunity to play with some lead type. As it was the 50th birthday of Helvetica and I was in its home country I thought it would be only fair to celebrate it, so I designed and printed this poster to illustrate a small but important change in the typefaces development.
Its an A3 poster with 72pt. Halbfett Haas Grotesk in one colour and 72pt. Halbfett Helvetica in another.
To make some funds for my final major project I was hoping to sell a few

I’m located in Asheville, NC. But I’d most likely have to order. It would have to been in a while though, because I’m saving for baby and a new place (we got kicked out of our apartment because I got fired from the sign shop I was worked at, for “working on a personal business on company time.” Which was logging into my blog and posting on a break….They were uneducated and knew nothing about design, I was the only one there with any education in graphic design.) So because of that bullshit, I’m low on cash and work a day job while keeping up with design too and planning for our child.
But, I am definitely interested in looking into press type, especially Helvetica.
PS this is where I worked…. They didn’t understand good design, and can be seen in their portfolio…. I’m suing them one day. http://www.hvoinc.com/graphic_services.cfm
