Like every of his appearence, Wim Crouwel gave us a great opportunity to know who he is, what he likes and how he works. It’s always refreshing to hear him talk about his life, his passion for design and typography. Yesterday, two main things took my attention. First, one sentence “The designer is here to serve the public“. This sentence has always be my way of design. “Use the form to serve the content“. Second, he also talked a lot about his passion, since always, for architecture. If you take a look at his work, it’s obvious all the grids and type he used are influenced by architecture, lines and formes.

He was also here for signing his new book “Architectures typographiques“, design by Experimental Jetset and published by F7. I’ll suggest you to buy this book but also the great retrospective made by japanese magazine IDEA.

Record Envelope shows references for vinyl geeks and graphic artists. Ms Kavel Rafferty’s collection of company sleeves.

Experimentation is part of the job. It is what it enriches and planned to new creative heights. In the field of Arjowiggins-manufacturing media for graphic design, experience does innovate with new roles, increasingly sophisticated, effective and surprising. At the same time, it also means approaching the
Designers, understand their concerns and offer new opportunities to highlight their work.

This is the case with this project that you are presenting now: POSTER.

This is an original series of 10 posters made by one of the best designers and studio.

The collection is a project conceived and driven by the spanish designer Dani Navarro, with the production and technical advice Arts Gràfiques Orient.

Punchcut’s screening of the Typophile Film Fest 4 is best described as a three-hour party centered around a rare and unequaled selection of short typographic films. Hailing from Portugal, The Netherlands, Austria, Canada and the US, the films create a visual mashup of motion design, typographic animation and short stories. It includes broadcast motion design, documentaries and typographic eye candy from Trollbäck + Company, Strange Attractors, Heebok Lee, Nick Shinn, Juan Leguizamon as well as exclusive interviews and cuts from the acclaimed documentary film Helvetica. Thanks to FontShop for helping make this presentation possible.

After the films, we’ll keep the food, drinks and music going until Swedish American Hall kicks us out.
