Typographics Architectures, Wim Crouwel’s new book

Wim Crouwel’s new book: Architecture typographiques

This book is published following the exhibition “Wim Crouwel, Architectures typographical: 1956-1976” which took place at the Anatome gallery in Paris (February 10 to April 28, 2007). It’s the first book in French language dedicated to work of Wim Crouwel, figure major of the contemporary graphic design.

This book features three new texts of Wim Crouwel and curators of the exhibition, Catherine de Smet and Emmanuel Bérard. Largely illustrated, it shows the diversity of the work of Wim Crouwel: visual identities, edition, posters. The iconography concentrates particularly on page-setting of the catalogues realized for museums such Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam, like on the genesis and the presentation of New Alphabet, created between 1964 and 1967.

This book was designed by Experimental Jetset. The photographs of the catalogues are by Jerome Saint-Loubert Bié and the portraits of Wim Crouwel by Johannes Schwartz.

I have been waiting in anticipation for this to be published. A new book on possibly my favourite designer ever, designed by the brilliant Experimental Jetset. It doesn’t get much better than that. Wish I could have gone to the exhibition. What with the Crouwel issue of Idea magazine looks like an expensive month for the credit card.

Magma books in London get copies of Idea about a month behind whan they come out in Japan. They have reserved me a copy so I can make sure I get it. Where did you order it from?
